Patients, their families, and our employees are enriched when our values-dignity, collaboration, justice, stewardship, and excellence-are truly at the core of our day-to-day work life. We appreciate our team's continual efforts to return to these values as they make and act on decisions.
Yet we realize that living our values is not always a simple proposition. It's not easy to know, for example, what stewardship looks like in the workplace. Or how to achieve justice in the real world. Or when our attempts to respect the dignity of others will make a real difference.
Honoring On-the-Job Actions
To help answer these questions-and recognize the exceptional efforts of individual employees-we instituted our Values in Action program in 1991. Initiated by the CHW Sponsoring Congregations, this program honors members of our team whose on-the-job actions consistently reinforce our values.
Recent honorees include:
- A Business Development Director who embodies excellence by approaching every challenge with professionalism and innovation
- A Utilization Review Coordinator who personifies dignity through her compassionate, tolerant, and respectful treatment of patients and their loved ones
- A Volunteer Supervisor who persistently works for justice by advocating for employees, patients, and their families
Recognizing these and others who are living models of our values helps us all understand and work toward a culture imbued with the standards we embrace.
